Songs from the new album
1. Rhythm of Loneliness (3:17), by Ozan Aksoy
This instrumental composition is written using a 10/8 rhythmic cycle called ‘Curcuna’ (pandemonium), not commonly found in Western music. The beats can be broken down into 3+2+2+3 units, which create a bustling, chaotic feel.
2. Hope (4:17), by Ozan Aksoy
This original composition is built around a single sentence in Kurdish, “Ez ji te hez dikim, ez je nave te hez dikim” [I love you, I love your name]. This song features sarangi, a fiddle from Nepal, creating a true world music composition melding of different cultures around the world.
3. Rindê [Beautiful] (5:03), Kurdish folk, bridge section by Ozan Aksoy
This anonymous Kurdish love song describes a beautiful woman. The bridge section of the arrangement is inspired by Flamenco riffs, combining two different scales used in the music of Mediterranean communities.
4. Düm-Tek (3:18), by Cahit Berkay
Composed by Cahit Berkay and released in 1975 by the iconic Turkish Anatolian pop group Moğollar, the song’s only lyrics are “Düm” and “Tek” representing the strong and weak beats in Turkish rhythmic theory.
5. Kanchum Em Ari Ari [Calling you my love] (4:17), Armenian folk
This Armenian folk song is a beautiful love ballad, with the lyrics saying “I am calling you, please come my love; I would die for your body.”

This Kurdish love song about is by Aram Tigran, a prolific Armenian musician who sang primarily in Kurdish. The lyrics say that the lover’s heart aches and calls for Leyla to come to him on a Spring evening.
7. Derzor Çölleri [Armenian Exiles in the Desert of Syria] (3:43), traditional
An emotionally charged song of human suffering, this Armeno-Turkish lament’s arrangement is based on the field recording of Vartan Shapazian made in 1939 by Sidney Robertson Cowell. {W.P.A. California Folk Music Project collection (AFC 1940/001), American Folklife Center, Library of Congress}.
8. Dandini (4:13), traditional
A traditional Turkish lullaby where the hypnotic phrases and melodies create a soothing emotion to help children fall asleep. Many different refrains exist, varying from family to family, though a common line is “sleep so you can grow my baby.”

Even the road is crying for your return, what else can I say?
Roses were bedewed my love, I would die for your tall stature
With those drops falling off from my heart, what else can I say?

DER ZOR COLLERI (DERZOR DESERT):
Der Zor çöllerinde yaralı çoktur
Gelme Doktor gelme çarası yoktur
Bir Allah'tan gayrı heç kimsem yoktur
Dininin uğruna giden Ermeni
Der Zor çöllerinde bayıldım kaldım
Harçlığım tükendi evladım sattım
Ana ben bu candan bıktım usandım
Milletin uğruna giden Ermeni
There were so many wounded on the Der Zor desert
Doctor, don’t even bother there is no cure for this
I have no friends left except God
Armenian losing lives due to their religion
I fainted on the Der Zor desert
Left with nothing sold my kids to survive
Mother, I am so tired of living
Armenian losing lives due to being Armenian
